The Roscrea RFC girls u12s braved Storm Jorge on Saturday February 29th to play in the Portarlington RFC leinster girls blitz. Despite snow flurries when Leaving home, then heavy wind, cold rain and low temperatures the Roscrea girls put on a super show in defense and attack. In their first game of the day they came up against a very strong and well trained Portarlinton – Kildare combined team. The Roscrea girls were valiant in defense and showed some excellent skill in attack. For their 2nd game, Tullamore RFC were the opponents and the 2 teams put on super spectacle of attacking rugby with lots of really impressive tries and some determined tackling. For the 3rd game, Roscrea RFC and Barnhall RFC joined to pair off against each other with 2 combined teams. Despite club mates playing against each other, the girls showed the same determination and commitment as in any other game, with some really good tackling, rucking and direct running. The game was a high scoring affair with numerous excellent team scores on either side. After the Blitz, Roscrea RFC girls coordinator Ciara Maher thanked the hosts for their hospitality and paid tribute to the parents and girls coaches who had travelled in the bad weather.
