With the atrocious weather recently forcing a mass cancellation of games in the midlands. The Roscrea RFC and Birr RFC u12s Girls decided to brave the conditions for a super morning of rugby. Over 30 girls put on a fantastic show in attack and defence with the game played in a very positive manner as the sun shone in Streamstown despite the mucky and wet conditions. Girls rugby in the midlands has seen huge growth in recent years where Birr RFC girls u12s are in their 1st year at this age grade while Roscrea RFC u12s are in their 3rd year. Birr RFC Coach Eamonn O’meara and Roscrea RFC coach Ciara Maher were both delighted with how the players performed especially considering the lack of training in recent weeks due to the poor weather. The players really enjoyed the game and after wards were deservedly treated to snacks and drinks in the club house. We are sure the teams will meet many times in the future!
