A safe return to Rugby
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Club Covid officer Serena Cooper Brady, assistant Covid Officer Enda Maher and the Club covid committee we are now in a position to start the process of returning to Rugby. This will happen in an organized and scheduled manner with the club’s senior team returning at the start of August followed by the youths groups and then minis in September. Although we are keen to get everyone back to enjoying their sport, our priority will be the safety of everyone at the club. Therefore, there will be some administrative and practical changes that will be necessary for everyone’s safe return. We will inform you about these new procedures well in advance. When the time comes, we ask you for your patience and compliance in order to facilitate the controlled reopening of Roscrea Rugby Club.
Planning for the season
Plans for the forthcoming season are well underway with Roscrea RFC Director of rugby Robert Dempsey working diligently in the background putting the team structures in place for the 2020/21.
The main objective is for the club to be in a position to provide team training and games for all players from minis right up to senior level. This will include the prospect of teams at all youth levels to include u13s, u14s, u15s, u16s, u17s, u18s and u20s.
As a result of the guidelines set out by the IRFU in relation to Covid 19 Health and safety compliance we will need to address the following.
Training times and pitch space allocation will need to be planned in advance and we would ask parents to liase directly with coaches/coordinators to help facilitate this.
Each team/group will need a Covid 19 compliance officer. This is a required part of the return to play protocols. This small task can be carried out by a coach or a committed parent, any volunteers would be greatly appreciated. Training will be provided.
When training resumes, we would ask parents to help keep everything running smoothly by complying with any measures set out by the Covid Officers and the club.
Interested in Helping?
We are always looking for new coaches to help out with all age groups and teams, no experience is necessary.
New player at every age group are always welcome, if you know of any one that might be interested in bringing their kids to Rugby, please introduce us!
If you want to help but don’t want to be involved in training, we have a vibrant and dynamic club committee that is always looking for new members
You can contact Director of rugby Robert Dempsey on 086 8201283 for anymore info.
Membership keeps the club running!
Like all sporting organizations, there are constant and unavoidable costs in keeping the club up and running. The club’s main source of income is the money raised by players yearly membership. This income has become more important than ever this year as the Covid 19 pandemic has resulted in making it difficult to raise money through our more traditional methods. We would ask that all members consider paying their membership in advance of returning to training. This is necessary for insurance purposes but will have the crucial added benefit of keeping the clubs finances in a healthy condition.
