The Roscrea RFC boys u13s travelled to play St Brigids RFC on Sunday, March 8th in the leinster Schools youth league. In what was a very close game against super opposition, the Roscrea team eventually came out on top with a score of 17 – 15. Roscrea Coach Ollie Stapleton had the team well prepared and motivated by kick off and the players responded well, starting the match with a high tempo pressure game. There was some very impressive attacking play from both teams, equally the defences were strong, determined and resolute. St Brigids are one of the top teams in the league and possess a strong, direct running game and a clinical defence, they have quality throughout the team and play a positive and attractive brand of rugby. The game ebbed and flowed and was a tight affair from start to finish, in every way it was a fantastic advertisement for youths rugby. However, the Roscrea boys were in excellent form and inspired by man of the match Aaron Moloney, they put in one of their best performances of the season. Tries on the day were scored by Callum Murphy, Aaron Moloney and Declan Walsh with a conversion kicked by Killian Murphy. After the game, Roscrea RFC boys u13s head coach Michael Moloney thanked St Brigids RFC for their warm welcome and hospitality and wished them well for the rest of the season.
