girls rugby
Girls Rugby returned to Roscrea RFC in september 2017 after a long absence and has grown from strength to strength ever since. The 2019 season marked the return of Girls competitive rugby to Roscrea RFC. The club now offers training for girls from 7 to 15 years of age, fielding teams at u8s, u10, u12s, u14s and now u16s . The girl’s rugby season starts in September and lasts until April with regular games and social events throughout the year. Training is every Sunday for the u8, u10 and u12 age groups and Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm for u12s, u14s and u16s. The U14s and u16s also train on a saturday evening at 6:15pm.
In September of 2020 Roscrea RFC and neighbours Birr RFC joined their girls training groups at u14s and u16s levels to form two imalgimated teams to compete in the leinster girls youths league. This momentous decision was made with the objective of providing girls between the ages of 12 and 16 living in the locality with a strong and dynamic group coaching setup. This positive initiative aspires to improve the teams competitive potential while simultaneously helping the development of the players into the future.
Roscrea RFC girls rugby is always on the look out for new players interested in giving the sport a try, no experience is necessary and the priority is always on enjoyment and development.
