Back to Rugby Update

After many months of careful forward planning and meticulous preparation with the primary focus on a safe return to Rugby, Roscrea RFC are now looking forward to all age groups returning to the club to resume training for the 2020/21 season. Roscrea RFC director of Rugby Robert Dempsey is currently finalising the Coaching roster while simultaneously putting in place a training schedule to facilitate all teams and groups involved.

Roscrea RFC Minis Rugby (Boys and Girls aged 6 to 12)

Roscrea RFC Boys minis coordinator Denis Delaney and Girls minis coordinator Ciara Maher will welcome back the u6s to u12s age groups in mid-September on Sunday mornings with the Boys U6, u7s, u8s, u9s and u10s teams training from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by the Girls u8s, u10s and u12s and the boys u11s and u12s from 11:30am to 12:30pm. All coaches are in place for these groups and are looking forward with great anticipation to returning to training for another season. More information will be available closer to the time.

Roscrea RFC girls rugby Coordinator Ciara Maher

Give it a try Training Camp

Roscrea Girls rugby is currently hosting the Give it a try rugby programme. The 4 hourly sessions started on Wednesday 26th August and will run for 4 weeks. It is the clubs third successive year of running the GIAT programme and it has been a huge success in terms of it original objective of developing girl’s rugby at the club. Roscrea Girls rugby is always looking for new and returning players to join their training groups at u8s, u10s, u12s, u14s and u16s levels for 6 to 16 year olds. Youths Rugby

Roscrea RFC is currently in the process of recruiting a Club youths coordinator. The position entails coordinating the Clubs youths’ teams and liaising with visiting clubs and referees. Roscrea RFC AGM

This year the club will hold its AGM away from Streamstown for the first time ever. To comply with current Government guidelines in terms of maximum numbers of people in a venue at any one time, this year’s AGM will be held in the form of a video conference using zoom. It has been set for Sept 9th at 7:30pm.

The Roscrea RFC senior team are getting geared up for the new season as they begin their journey in the leinster league division 2b.  The team train on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and head coach John Maher is always on the look out for new recruits who are interested in joining the squad while welcoming back returning and former players. The upcoming first game of the season will be the scheduled midlands league game as they welcome neighbours Birr RFC to Streamstown for their first midlands league fixture.
